Position Opening: Part-time Production Lab Courier
AnimalBiome seeks a Part-time Courier to join our growing team in Oakland, California.
About AnimalBiome:
Founded in 2016, AnimalBiome is an Oakland-based biotech company that uses cutting-edge microbiome technology to analyze and restore the gut health of cats and dogs.
Imbalances in a pet’s gut microbiome are tied to an increased risk for many health issues, including those related to digestion, skin, and weight. At AnimalBiome, we use both dietary interventions and fecal transplants to restore balance to the microbiomes of sick pets.
About the Position
This is a part-time hourly position with approximately 12-18 hours per week. Great position for someone needing a regular Mon-Fri morning shift.
Drivers pick up fecal donations from dog & cat donors and deliver collections back to our laboratory. Drivers communicate pertinent info via Slack to various other teams while on their route. Must have valid drivers license and reliable vehicle. (Mileage reimbursement provided)
This position requires navigating bay area roadways and finding parking, which at times may include parallel parking. This is also a physically demanding position as you may need to walk across uneven terrain and navigate up and down stairs, around shrubbery and through various obstacles while locating the cooler for the donation pick up. Terrain at times is uneven so candidates must be physically agile.
Must be self-motivated, organized, and detail oriented. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can self-teach as needed.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Picking up bagged poop donations from donor pets outside their house
- Providing friendly service to our donor families
- Communicating regularly with the Donation Recovery Unit
- Driving your personal vehicle an average of between 20-70miles per day (mileage reimbursement provided)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiar with using an iPad
- Familiar with the East Bay area
- Customer service experience
- Adaptable to startup environment
- Familiar with Slack communication
- Familiar with Google Sheets
Required Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Passion for helping pets in need
- Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license
- Driving skills including ability to parallel park
- Must pass background and DMV check
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Proficient computer skills and ability to navigate various software applications
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for 4-hour shifts.
- Able to navigate stairs, uneven walkways, gravel paths, and home environment obstacles
Schedule:
Monday-Friday: starting between 8-9am, as assigned, until route is complete.
