POSITION SUMMARY:

Facilitate and supervise weekly youth support groups for 2SLGBTQ+ (Two Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, etc.) youth, fostering an affirming and inclusive environment. Coordinate outreach and community engagement activities, collaborate with partners, and oversee program volunteers and interns. Maintain accurate records and contribute to the overall success of the Triple Point program through active participation in program planning and professional development.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Facilitate and supervise weekly youth support groups, including curriculum planning, group leadership, and creating an affirming, inclusive environment for 2SLGBTQ+ (Two Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, etc.) youth
  • Build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with youth participants; serve as a positive role model and advocate
  • Coordinate tabling, educational, and outreach events, especially during Pride Month and other community celebrations
  • Collaborate with community partners (e.g., schools, local nonprofits, service providers) to expand resources and support networks for youth
  • Support youth in navigating challenges, processing emotions, and connecting to appropriate resources while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Onboard, train, and supervise program volunteers and interns
  • Maintain accurate and confidential participant records; track program outcomes as required by funders
  • Participate in regular staff meetings, professional development, and program planning activities
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

  • Basic working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

This job is performed in a professional office environment. The following list is representative of the work environment employees encounter while performing the essential functions of this job:

  • Ability to work in a confined area
  • Ability to sit at a computer for an extended period

HYBRID WORK ARRANGEMENTS:

Hybrid work is a benefit of Akin’s flexible workplace but cannot be offered for all positions. Some positions require daily presence in the office. Hybrid work arrangements may be adjusted or rescinded based upon business needs.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard; occasionally to reach, stoop and kneel
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED and at least 1–3 years of experience in youth services, community outreach, social services, or a related field
  • Experience providing direct support to children, youth, and families
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust with youth participants

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, including 2SLGBTQ+ (Two Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, etc.) youth
  • Previous experience facilitating youth groups or workshops
  • Experience in community outreach and partnership building
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and crisis response strategies
  • Additional language skills

SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS:

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive pay, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position.
The target starting pay for this position is $20.30 -$23.86, typically within the first half of the range. Actual offers will be based on individual qualifications relevant to the role and will not take an applicant’s pay history into account.
The range above allows our employees room for growth during their tenure in the position.
