Job Summary
Our family owned company is growing fast, and we are looking for a detail-oriented, caring person to add to our team to support our Administration and Graphics staff. This position’s main responsibility will be to proofread orders throughout the creation process. The secondary responsibility will be helping with typing handwritten orders sent in by our customers. We receive many 1-2 page orders in a day that need to be typed into a basic word document. Multitasking is critically important as our day-to-day activities are numerous. This position is part-time. Hours for this position are Tuesday through Thursday, 8:00 – 5:00. This position will be located in our new facility at 298 West Valley Avenue, Homewood, Al 35209.
Specific Responsibilities:
Proofreader Tasks:
- Help graphic designers get their jobs to proof by confirming that the information submitted by the customer is included in the program.
- Help structure/restructure text.
- Mark copy to indicate and correct errors in type, arrangement, grammar, punctuation, or spelling, using standard printers’ marks.
- Compare information or figures on one record against same data on other records, or with original copy, to detect errors.
- Route proofs with marked corrections to authors, graphic designers or staff for correction or reprinting.
- Serve as a resource for graphic designers in content structure.
Typist Tasks:
- Each document might require 10 – 20 minutes to type. Basic grammar is a must, but no formatting to be done on documents.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is able to type a minimum of 45+ words per minute at 98% accuracy and should also possess excellent grammar and spelling skills. Experience is NOT required
- Has excellent communication and listening skills.
- Thrives in working in an active, busy environment.
- Is organized and detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Is proficient in basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.
- Is interested in continually learning and growing.
