This position is responsible to provide case management service for child/abuse neglect, status offender, and juvenile offender cases under the jurisdiction of the Omaha Tribal Court; and to coordinate court-ordered Office of Juvenile Services evaluations. This position will also be responsible to complete initial assessments on reports of child abuse/neglect and establish safety plans based on needs identified from the family assessment. Complete NFOCUS training offsite for a total amount of 9 weeks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Handle Intake calls/reports of child abuse and/or neglect.
- Complete initial assessments on allegations of child abuse/neglect.
- Assess risk and develop risk assessments findings.
- Coordinate with Law Enforcement to perform investigations on child abuse/neglect.
- Initiate court involvement for child abuse/neglect, status offense and juvenile offender cases.
- Develop, implement and evaluate case plans.
- Prepare case plan, court reports and maintain frequent correspondence with the courts.
- Complete referral forms and release of information forms.
- Conduct monthly home visits with every ward, parent and others involved in the cases.
- Document contacts with wards, their parents and other collateral contacts, enter data into the NFOCUS.
- Attend court hearings to testify.
- Conduct family assessments and home studies.
- Maintain daily data entry for each case.
- Provide crisis intervention when necessary.
- Transport wards to meetings, court hearings, medical/therapy appointments, school etc.
- File paperwork.
- Attend school meetings to coordinate with school officials and complete Individual Education Plans.
- Make and receive phones calls.
- Educating the community through community presentations
- Standard office management/record management duties.
- Attend trainings & daily/weekly staffings.
- Provide On-Call services for after hour emergency calls.
- Staff with the Case Lead, Supervisors, and Deputy Director of Children and Family Services regarding progress of cases and as mandated in Policy Manual.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Preferred Associates' Degree in social work, Human Services, Counseling; and/or two years minimum experience in related field
- High school Diploma or GED
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and/or REGISTRATIONS:
- Must pass a Nebraska Child Abuse/Neglect Central Registry and Nebraska Adult Protection Service Central Registry
- Must have valid Driver's License and be insurable by Tribal insurance
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and/or ABILITIES:
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all cases and program information.
- Knowledge of Omaha Cultural practices is preferred.
- Must be free of any conviction by any state or the United States for a crime punishable by imprisonment in a penitentiary for a term of one (1) year, or more, or by any foreign government for a crime which would be punishable by imprisonment for a term of one year, or more, if committed in Nebraska, or must have been pardoned for such offense, or have had a conviction for offense overturned, or reversed by a court of competent jurisdiction.
- Must be willing to work after hours for emergency calls at times.
