FUNCTIONS: HEALing Community Health's Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners are licensed professionals responsible for managing health problems and providing health care for patients, and adhering to the State of Georgia rules and regulations. PNPs shall exercise the requisite standard of care, defined as the exercise of at least that degree of skill, care and diligence as would ordinarily be rendered by advanced practice registered nurses, which include assessment of health status, diagnosis, development and implementation of treatment plans, plan of care, and evaluation of patient status.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct psychiatric evaluations and comprehensive mental health assessments.

Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings.

Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitoring efficacy and side effects.

Provide crisis intervention and risk assessment as needed.

Collaborate with primary care providers, therapists, case managers, and social workers to ensure integrated care.

Educate patients and families on psychiatric conditions, treatment options, and self-management strategies.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system.

Participate in quality improvement initiatives, team meetings, and training sessions.

Stay updated on best practices and emerging trends in psychiatric care, especially within community health settings.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing (MSN/DNP) with a focus on Psychiatric-Mental Health.

Active Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner certification.

Valid state RN and APRN license with prescriptive authority.

DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances.

Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care and integrated behavioral health models.

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative care team.

Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills:

Experience in community health, FQHCs, or underserved populations preferred.

Familiarity with electronic health record (ECW) systems.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
