Essential Job Responsibilities
- Timely provision of all relevant Q-documents and demand-oriented coordination with the welding inspection and production personnel.
- Carrying out the initial sample inspection according to the inspection specifications and, if the inspection result is positive, issuing the production release. In the case of more complex test procedures, support from the supervisor, if necessary.
- Support of the production staff in all questions concerning quality inspection - under demand-oriented involvement of the supervisor
- Comparison of the measurement results of the self-test with the run test, if necessary, consultation with the production personnel.
- Knowledge of the current quality situation of all production facilities located in the local QP responsibility area.
- If necessary, pointing out quality deviations and initiating corrective and change measures with the responsible departments.
- Competence and authority to stop non-controlled processes and prevent the delivery/shipment of potentially defective products.
- The authority and power to post the blocked units to unblocked stock after making the appropriate usage decision
- Ongoing information of the supervisor about the current quality situation in the respective QP area, especially in case of Q risks.
- Compliance with the guidelines specified from the management system.
- Ensuring the required flow of information between the Q inspectors during shift changes (verbal / written)
- Carrying out profile acceptance of simple profiles/products with the customer as contact person on quality topics during the entire duration of the visit. Ongoing information about the current progress of the respective profile acceptance to the supervisor.
- Documentation of the specification changes agreed with the customer in the "Acceptance Report" as well as by signed sample pieces (e.g. reference samples).
- Immediate information of the decision-makers in production/quality inspection about the results of the profile acceptance to be able to guarantee the earliest possible and smoothest possible start of production.
- Preparation of requests for testing exceptions which are transmitted to the sales department.
- Knowledge of the "state of the art" about testing and measuring technology in relation to our profiles/products.
- Processing of internal/external complaints in the system and clarification of the facts of the case.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Preferred one year related quality experience in manufacturing industry.
- Knowledge of testing and measurement methodology in relation to our profiles/products and practical application within scope of job.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of and ability to monitor/troubleshoot SAP, ELO, and Microsoft products.
- Strong data entry skills and computer literacy.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving ability.
- Attention to detail and accuracy of record keeping.
- Ability to use various measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, and other hand tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Must work effectively in a team.
Physical Requirements
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud; hearing protection is provided and required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, coolant, or airborne particles and will work near moving mechanical parts.
- Ability to lift 20 pounds regularly, and 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to perform excessive walking, standing, bending, climbing, reaching, grasping, and lifting.
- Ability to visually inspect parts and use of hands to use measuring gauges.
- Ability to run machines and equipment safely and efficiently.
