Job Title: Radiation Oncology RN
Shift: Days (6:30a-8pm) but variable.
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse specializing in Oncology to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient care, with experience in various nursing settings. This role requires a commitment to providing high-quality care to patients undergoing cancer treatment and support for their families. The Registered Nurse will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient management and optimal health outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to oncology patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including IV infusion and chemotherapy.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes in condition to the healthcare team.
- Educate patients and their families about treatment plans, side effects, and self-care strategies.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in case management and discharge planning for oncology patients.
- Assist with procedures such as suturing, catheterization, and specimen collection.
- Provide emotional support to patients and families facing cancer diagnoses.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Radiation Oncology or Oncology experience with brachytherapy required
- Strong assessment skills with the ability to perform physical examinations and triage patients effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in oncology nursing practices.
