Position Overview
The RCM Manager will serve as the central liaison and problem-solver between Renew Wound Care’s clinical and operational staff and its 100% outsourced billing and coding vendor. This individual will be responsible for ensuring timely resolution of billing and coding issues, optimizing revenue cycle performance, and proactively identifying and mitigating risks to reimbursement.
This is a remote-based position.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary triage point for all billing and coding issues raised by clinical, administrative, or billing teams.
- Coordinate communication between outsourced RCM vendor and internal stakeholders to facilitate timely and accurate issue resolution.
- Analyze, track, and report on denials, rejections, coding discrepancies, and other RCM metrics.
- Lead root cause analysis on recurring issues and work with appropriate teams to implement corrective action.
- Partner with clinical and operational teams to educate staff on documentation, coding, and billing best practices to prevent future issues.
- Develop workflows and escalation protocols to ensure efficient issue resolution and minimal revenue leakage.
- Monitor and evaluate vendor performance using KPIs and SLAs; escalate performance issues as necessary.
- Stay current with healthcare reimbursement regulations and payer-specific requirements, especially in the wound care setting.
- Collaborate with leadership on strategic revenue cycle initiatives and process improvement efforts.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, with a strong background in billing and coding operations.
- Experience working with outsourced RCM vendors preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of medical billing and coding standards, including CPT, ICD-10, and modifiers.
- Familiarity with denial management, payer guidelines, and revenue recovery strategies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a track record of timely and effective issue resolution.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to translate technical RCM language for clinical and operational audiences.
- Experience with wound care, outpatient services, or specialty practices is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with EHR/EMR systems and revenue cycle platforms.
- Certification in medical billing/coding (e.g., CPC, CPB, or equivalent) is a plus.
