JOB SUMMARY:
The Lead Worker assists the department manager in several key phases of Receiving Operations. The lead is right hand man of the Supervisor so the ability to learn and perform all jobs in the receiving department is essential for this position.
DUTIES:
- Assist department manager in directing activities of the material handler, dock worker, and truck jockeys.
- Manage inventories in warehouses and freezers. Coordinate all in-bound freight, UPS, Fed Ex deliveries and distribute to departments.
- Assist in filling in for all jobs associated with the receiving department during breaks, absences, etc.
- Coordinate the proper disposition of all return loads that are brought into the plant through communications with OS&D, QA, Shipping and other Tyson Plants and/or Distribution Centers.
- This position is responsible for the daily creation of the Lot Check form to track all trailer usage by Danville.
- This form also tracks the movement of trailers that are brought to Danville for relay purposes.
- This form is shared throughout the plant and with other personnel throughout the company. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be 18 years of age or older.
2. Must meet qualifications for tow-motor operator certification.
3. Must be able to communicate clearly via phone, in person, and in writing.
4. Proficient in basic math.
5. Must be detail oriented.
6. Must have good leadership skills.
7. Must be motivated and able to work minimal supervision.
8. Must have good communication and interpersonal skills.
9. Must be able to perform the essential job functions.
10. Must be willing to work from Monday thru Friday, weekend work and overtime may be required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Must be physically fit for performing a variety of physically demanding tasks.
2. Able to push tanks weighing up to 1000 lbs.
3. Able to lift 50 lbs. periodically.
4. Able to tolerate extremely cold conditions when working in and around freezers.
5. Willing and able to wear Personal Protective Equipment.
ADDITIONAL:
- The nature of this work involves regular exposure to a variety of outdoor weather conditions.
- Temperatures in the coolers, freezers, etc. are extremely cold.
- The work environment on and around the Receiving Docks can be damp and wet.
- Steel-toe boots are required.
- Personal Protective Equipment such as gloves, hair nets, and ear protection are provided.
- Previous lead experience required.
Applicants who have worked for Tyson before may be considered for rehire up to three times if they meet the location’s rehire criteria. Applicants will not be considered prior to 6 months post previous Tyson employment.
