Job Overview
The Recreation Leader plays a vital role in creating a safe, engaging, and enjoyable environment for children and youth participating in recreational programs. This position involves leading activities, managing behavior, and fostering positive relationships among participants. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and possess skills in education, sports coaching, and classroom management.
Duties
- Plan, organize, and lead recreational activities such as sports, arts and crafts, games, and educational programs.
- Implement behavior management strategies to ensure a positive experience for all participants.
- Provide support and guidance to children with special needs or those requiring additional assistance.
- Supervise participants during activities to ensure safety and adherence to program rules.
- Collaborate with other staff members to create inclusive programming that meets the diverse needs of all participants.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment for activities and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders regarding participant progress and program updates.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in educational or recreational settings is preferred.
- Skills in behavior management, special education, tutoring, or babysitting are highly valued.
- Familiarity with classroom management techniques to maintain a productive environment.
- Experience in sports coaching or leading camp activities is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students and their families.
- A commitment to fostering an inclusive atmosphere for all participants.
- Must be able to work flexible hours as needed for various programs.
