POSITION RESPONSIBILITY OVERVIEW:
We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced sales executive with an interest in natural, organic sustainable, premium, clean food sales. As a Region Sales Manager Central Region, you will represent a company that is family-owned and operated since 1949 who has a passion for bringing great food to customers in both retail and food service channels. Position responsibilities include:
Strategic customer development to build sales primarily in the Central Region in conjunction with maintaining/growing current customer sales and building long-term relationships - Ability to succeed in both retail and food service customer/business development - Ability to interact with and support all DTR company functional areas including customer service, production planning/scheduling and distribution/logistics - Building professional sales presentations and conducting quarterly customer business reviews - Coordinating customer promotions/marketing programs to build sales and drive successful results - A commitment to learning our company capabilities, product lines and services to support our customers - Knowledge of the competitive framework and understanding how to win with Diestel - A desire to win, accountability to meet specific sales/product mix goals, increase sales penetration and drive company sales profitably
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop and successfully implement a strategic sales plan to grow sales with existing customers and develop targeted new customers
2. Develop retail customers who are focused on the natural/organic/sustainable food sector
3. Strategically develop food service customers who are interested in telling the Diestel story and branding on the menu
4. Direct and coordinate company sales and marketing activities for targeted retail, food service and distributor customers in the western US. Develop and maintain customer relationships across key functional areas (buying/merchandising, marketing, leadership, logistics, etc.)
5. Conduct quarterly customer business reviews and plan forward for success and sales growth in future quarters (staying ahead at least six months for planning and successful execution)
6. Develop and increase holiday sales with all customers (both existing and new)
7. Proactively support development of new products to meet customer/market needs, and coordinate the operational details for product launches through the customers
8. Proactively manage carcass utilization with a focus on selling the whole turkey (white and dark meat items to each customer)
9. Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of sales, marketing programs, costs, and results, and make recommendations for improvements
10. Responsible for managing sales and marketing budget by customer and the eastern region.
11. Proactively drive customer projects, establish short and long-term goals for each customer.
12. Participate in customer and industry food shows to build sales and relationships
13. Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Professional sales experience and understanding of the retail and food service markets with a minimum of 5 – 8 years of experience
2. Experience in strategic sales planning and successful execution of sales plans. Knowledge of negotiating, contracting and change management. Ability to structure sales quota and revenue goals.
3. Experience in planning and successfully developing and executing customer marketing strategies, promotions and advertising campaigns.
4. Excellent professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Must be a strategic thinker, inquisitive, innovative and creative in building relationships.
5. Proficiency in PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, customer presentations, customer business reviews and analytical.
6. Must be goal driven and have good organizational/administration skills.
7. MBA in business and/or marketing preferred.
8. Must maintain a valid state driver license and safe driving record.
9. Must be able to work flexible schedule, willing to travel at a minimum of 70% with some weekend work required.
10. Must have a cooperative, constructive, respectful attitude, and be a TEAM player.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle/feel objects, or controls; reach with hands and arms; speak and hear.
2. Occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
3. Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
4. Vision abilities required include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
