Position Summary
Midstate Irrigation Store is looking for a highly motivated and service-oriented Sales Associate to join our team. This position plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of the store, from customer service to merchandising, freight handling, and product-specific technical services. The ideal candidate is dependable, solutions-focused, and thrives in a team-oriented, hands-on retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Greet and assist customers in selecting irrigation and hardware products.
- Support customers in identifying effective solutions for their needs.
- Load heavy items (e.g., pipe and fittings) into customer vehicles.
- Handle multiple customer requests simultaneously.
- Assess and respond to each customer’s service needs appropriately.
- Monitor for potential shoplifting and follow loss-prevention best practices.
- Place and manage special orders, including vendor selection, pricing estimates, and procedural compliance.
Point-of-Sale Operations
- Accurately and efficiently operate the cash register.
- Use judgment in processing checks, returns, and charge account transactions.
- Provide fast checkout service and handle common account-related issues confidently.
Store Operations
- Participate in opening and closing procedures.
- Remain calm and solutions-focused during high-pressure situations (e.g., system outages or complex customer interactions).
- Provide technical support.
Merchandising
- Keep shelves stocked and neat by rotating inventory and facing product displays.
- Replace missing back tags and clean shelving units regularly.
- Adjust displays to accommodate new items, maintaining organized back-tag systems.
Freight & Receiving
- Follow check-in procedures for incoming shipments.
- Receive freight with speed and accuracy.
- Identify and follow up on vendor shipping errors with documented solutions.
Purchasing (as applicable)
- Use good judgment in ordering inventory based on sales trends and purchase history.
- Ensure inventory is stocked within budget while meeting customer demand.
Yard and Stock Duties
- Load pipe and other large materials into customer vehicles in the yard.
- Pull items from storage or backstock as needed.
- Measure and cut pipe to specified lengths.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $19.50 - $20.00 per hour
