The following are some of the skills needed to perform the essential functions of the position of RN Supervisor. The ability to:
- Make prompt and accurate nursing care and supervisory judgments.
- Accurately administer nursing bedside care specific to the elderly and others needing long term care services.
- Effectively supervise assigned unit(s) with regard to residents, employees, families, visitors and the public.
- Effectively communicate with residents, staff, families, visitors and others and convey a sense of caring, concern and dignity for the residents.
- Perform essential functions of the job, in a manner that benefits residents of the facility and complies with business necessity.
- EDUCATION REQUIRED
- In the interest of the residents, a RN Supervisor will have received a registered nursing degree from an accredited nursing program, college or university. It is preferred the RN Supervisor will have taken courses in nursing management or supervision and geriatiric rehabilitative and restorative nursing.
- LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
- The RN Supervisor will hold a current, unencumbered license to practice as a nurse in the State
- EXPERIENCE
- The RN Supervisor will have at least six months experience working in a hospital, long-term care facility or other healthcare institution with training or experience implementing total patient care and care planning and in making sound nursing judgments. In addition, the RN Supervisor will be familiar with the policies, regulations and procedures of assisted nursing homes.
