Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our team at a Level I Trauma Center. In this critical role, you will provide exceptional care to expectant mothers and their newborns during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the safety and well-being of both mother and child, while adhering to the highest standards of medical care.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess the health status of mothers and infants throughout labor and delivery.
- Administer medications and perform procedures such as spinal taps and catheterization as needed.
- Utilize medical imaging techniques to support patient care decisions.
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans.
- Maintain accurate patient records using Epic software for documentation and reporting.
- Provide education and support to families regarding labor, delivery, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and provide basic life support when necessary.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills in memory care and sonography.
Skills
- Strong understanding of labor and delivery standards within a Level I Trauma Center environment.
- Proficiency in performing spinal taps, catheterization, medical imaging, and basic life support techniques.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining a patient-centered focus.
- Strong critical thinking skills to assess situations quickly and respond appropriately in high-pressure environments.
