Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery (Night Shift)

Job Summary:
UnityPoint – Methodist West Hospital is seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Labor & Delivery to join our team for a 13-week contract. This role is ideal for a nurse with strong clinical skills in L&D, who thrives in a fast-paced hospital environment, and is committed to providing high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care to patients in the Labor & Delivery unit.
- Monitor and support mothers during labor, delivery, and recovery.
- Assist physicians in delivery procedures, including OR support.
- Assess, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Educate patients and families on postpartum care and newborn health.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure positive outcomes.
- Float as needed to Mother/Baby or Postpartum units.
Schedule :
- Shift: Night Shift | 3x12 hour shifts per week
- Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience in a hospital setting (including OR).
- Active Iowa RN License (Compact licenses accepted).
- Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, FHM certifications.
- Must be comfortable with a blind offer process (no interview).
- COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions available).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous travel nursing experience.
- Strong communication and patient advocacy skills.
- Ability to adapt in high-pressure environments.
