Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will provide high-quality care to expectant mothers during labor and delivery, ensuring the safety and well-being of both mother and child. You will be responsible for monitoring patients, administering medications, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional maternal care in a supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor the health status of pregnant patients during labor and delivery.
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families throughout the birthing process.
- Administer medications, including IV infusion, as prescribed by physicians.
- Perform necessary medical procedures such as suturing, catheterization, and airway management.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize electronic medical record (EMR) systems effectively for patient data management.
- Participate in patient education regarding postpartum care and infant care practices.
- Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
Requirements
- Current nursing license with experience in labor and delivery or related fields.
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Epic or Cerner is preferred.
- Strong clinical skills including IV insertion, phlebotomy, medication administration, and patient assessment.
- Familiarity with ICD-10 coding and medical terminology is advantageous.
- Experience in critical care transport, trauma medicine, or emergency medicine is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Knowledge of acute pain management techniques and familiarity with hospice & palliative medicine is beneficial. Candidates with additional experience in pediatrics, geriatrics, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities will be highly regarded.
