Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse for our Medical/Surgical unit. This role is essential in providing high-quality patient care, ensuring that patients receive the necessary medical attention and support throughout their treatment journey. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping others.
Duties
As a Registered Nurse in the Medical/Surgical unit, you will be responsible for:
- Conducting thorough patient assessments and developing individualized care plans.
- Administering medications and treatments as prescribed, including IV infusion and medication administration.
- Performing procedures such as suturing, catheterization, and phlebotomy.
- Monitoring vital signs and recognizing changes in patient conditions to provide timely interventions.
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Documenting patient information accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Providing education to patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and post-discharge care.
- Ensuring adherence to infection control protocols and HIPAA regulations.
- Assisting with discharge planning and coordinating follow-up care.
Experience
Qualified candidates should have:
- A valid nursing license with experience in medical-surgical nursing preferred.
- Familiarity with EMR systems, including Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks.
- Experience in critical care settings or Level I/II trauma centers is advantageous.
- Knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, medical terminology, and documentation practices.
- Previous experience working with diverse populations, including geriatrics, pediatrics, and individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Skills in acute pain management, infection control, and behavioral health are highly desirable.
