Job Title: RN – GI Surgery (OR) – Charge Nurse

Schedule: Full-Time | Day Shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse – Charge Nurse with experience in GI Surgery and Operating Room (OR) care to join our growing team. This position is ideal for a clinically strong RN who is ready to take the lead in coordinating high-quality surgical care while supporting fellow nurses and collaborating with surgeons and medical staff. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead daily nursing operations in the GI Surgery OR unit
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
- Monitor patient status and recognize any critical changes
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and infection control standards
- Collaborate closely with physicians, anesthesiologists, and surgical teams
- Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to quality improvement efforts
- Support and mentor nursing team members under your supervision
Qualifications:Required:
- Active RN license in the State of Illinois
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- ACLS certification (required for critical care/ER)
- PALS certification (required for ER and pediatrics)
- NRP certification (required for Special Care Nursery)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in OR, perioperative, or GI surgical settings
- Proven ability to lead, manage time effectively, and stay calm in high-pressure situations
Preferred:
- Previous Charge Nurse or Nursing Supervisor experience
- Certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
- Experience with EMR systems (e.g., EPIC)
