Job Summary
Conducts investigations concerning customer complaints and thefts of MSD property. Assists in investigations concerning the misconduct of MSD employees. Conducts accident investigations concerning MSD employees and equipment and advises the Vehicle Accident Review Committee. Assists with site and facility safety inspections. Provides Executive Protection for MSD staff and assets. Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Functions
Assists in conducting investigations regarding accidents involving fatalities or unusual circumstances and assists in disaster response. Documents the scene by photographing the scene and interviewing witnesses. Provides critical data to the Vehicle Accident Review Committee. Responds to accidents in inclement weather and on “on call” basis. Liaisons with local police department to obtain official police report and determine fault in a timely manner. Assists in keeping file data on all accidents involving MSD equipment and personnel. Assists in conducting investigations involving misconduct of MSD customers, employees and contractors. Assists in investigating fraudulent Workers’ Compensation claims by conducting surveillance. Utilizes GPS data by obtaining data from laptop or work computer to assist in investigating speeding complaints or employees in transit to and from work sites. Assists in conducting investigations concerning theft of MSD assets. Assists in coordinating security for Executive Board meetings and Board members. Provides consultation regarding security risks, vulnerabilities and assists in the implementation of corrective measures to ensure the safety and security of MSD’s property and personnel. Assists in coordinating the use of drug sniffing dogs for searches or MSD equipment and/or facilities. Assists the Health and Safety Administrators during emergency response with worksite safety and security and evacuation procedures. Assists in investigating health complaints. Conducts regular and routine work site inspections to ensure CDL and DOT compliance. Assists with administering MSD’s drug and alcohol testing by monitoring and providing security for the process. Assists field supervisors with disputes between MSD employees and customers that hinder the progress of work.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Necessary to the Work
Knowledge of MSD safety and security standards and safe work practices; knowledge of OSHA regulations; knowledge of MSD policies and procedures; knowledge of safety and security related local, state and federal regulations; knowledge of associated Kentucky Revised Statutes (state laws); skill in performing investigations; skill in surveillance monitoring; skill in oral and written communication; skill in conflict resolution; ability to enforce MSD rules, regulations, policies and procedures; ability to resolve problems; ability to exercise tact and diplomacy; ability to maintain accurate and confidential records/information; ability to exercise judgment and discretion; ability to operate a PC and associated Windows environment software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite); ability to be courteous and helpful under pressure; ability to work under adverse working conditions such as inclement weather; ability to work effectively under heavy, unpredictable surges in workload and deadline pressure; ability to work 24 hour emergency response, various shifts and weekends.
Minimum Requirements
Associate Degree in Criminal Justice or a related field; five or more years of experience in law enforcement with three or more years of experience with criminal investigations, accident investigations and hazardous materials incidents; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must have safe work and driving habits.
