About the Role
The Sanitation Supervisor leads and coordinates the plant sanitation team to ensure compliance with GMPs and maintain a sanitary environment essential for producing safe, high-quality food products. Reporting to the Quality Manager/Senior Quality Supervisor, you will oversee cleaning and sanitizing activities, collaborate with Production to schedule tasks, monitor sanitation effectiveness, and ensure audit readiness. This role requires maintaining the highest standards of safety, food safety, quality, cost control, and regulatory compliance in a manufacturing setting.
What You'll Do
In this role, you will lead and manage all cleaning and sanitizing activities across the plant to uphold strict sanitation standards. You'll collaborate with the Production team to schedule sanitation work, address issues promptly, and adjust daily tasks as operational needs evolve. A key part of your responsibility will be monitoring the effectiveness of sanitation procedures and ensuring full compliance. You'll coordinate and deliver training for team members, support the development of new cleaning processes, and ensure equipment is properly sanitized before production start-up. Additionally, you will manage chemical inventory, report sanitation-related concerns or equipment issues, and maintain audit readiness by keeping documentation accurate and up to date. The position may require day or night shift coverage and includes flexibility to take on additional projects or assignments as needed.
About You
Candidates should bring at least 3–5 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment, with prior dairy experience and demonstrated leadership preferred. A high school diploma or GED is required, while an associate's degree is a plus. A strong understanding of GMPs, SOPs, and food safety and quality audits is essential, along with excellent communication, organizational, and team leadership skills. The role requires the ability to manage chemical inventories, develop sanitation procedures, and coordinate sanitation activities across shifts. Candidates must be comfortable with the physical demands of the job, which include frequent standing, walking, climbing, and lifting to 50 pounds with assistance. The role also involves exposure to cleaning chemicals, moving mechanical parts, and varying environmental conditions, including hot and cold weather. A successful Sanitation Supervisor is committed to fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement while ensuring that sanitation operations support the business's broader operational and food safety goals.
