Location Description:
Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled and curds.
Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
This role is crucial for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the assigned department area. It involves strict adherence to Safety work rules and reinforcing Safety as a Core Value. The position ensures uniform compliance with all policies, procedures, and activities related to Food Safety & Quality, aiming to reduce product and process variability.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Equipment Cleanliness & Sanitation: Ensure overall cleanliness and sanitation of the department area.
- Sanitation Schedules: Perform daily, weekly, and monthly master sanitation schedules.
- Production Start-Up: Follow daily production start-up procedures.
- Cross-Training: Crosstrain in various sanitation jobs.
- Equipment Issues: Report any equipment or mechanical problems.
- Team Efforts: Utilize team efforts during area inspections.
- Plant Goals: Follow plant goals independently.
- CP Manual Reference: Reference the CP Manual for sanitation program queries.
- Chemical Handling: Understand and follow chemical handling procedures for caustics, acids, quats, bleach, and peracetic.
- Pre-Op Standards: Conduct effective pre-op to RTE standards.
- Titration: Consistently titrate correctly.
- Gasket Replacement: Replace gaskets as needed.
- Pre-Op Inspections: Conduct daily pre-op inspections.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the room complies with regulations.
- SOP Adherence: Follow proper Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Safe Work Practices: Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality. Report any conditions or practices that may affect food safety, quality, or personnel safety.
- Safety Responsibility: Take personal responsibility for ensuring a safe and healthy workplace by adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
- Flexibility: Be available to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Regulatory Compliance: Always ensure regulatory compliance.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required:
- No prior experience or training needed.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Manufacturing/Sanitation Experience: Prior experience in manufacturing and/or sanitation is preferred.
- Mechanical Troubleshooting: Ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
- Pallet Jack License: Must be able to obtain and maintain a company pallet jack license. Experience with pallet jacks and/or forklifts is preferred.
- Reading & Comprehension: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Basic Math Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Communication: Must demonstrate open and honest communication.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships and work effectively with others to complete work assignments.
- Physical Requirements: Able to safely lift and carry 50 lbs. Able to stand on hard surfaces for most of the shift, ascend and descend stairs, bend, stoop, crouch, grasp, and reach.
