School Administrative Assistant
GENERAL SUMMARY
The School Administrative Assistant reports directly to the Principal.
Requirements: Valid SC Licensure in the area of Elementary/Middle Principal
Position Overview:
The School Administrative Assistant plays a key role in supporting and maintaining a positive school culture by working closely with students, teachers, staff, and families. Reporting to the Principal, this position is responsible for implementing schoo-wide behavior expectations, analyzing behavior data, and providing direct support for discipline and culture-related intiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing and maintaining a positive and structured school culture.
- Utilize behavior data to identify trends and support proactive discipline strategies.
- Provide teachers and staff with guidance and support in reinforcing school culture and expectations.
- Address and assist with student behavior and discipline issues as they arise.
- Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student behavior and collaborate on solutions.
This role requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to manage and analyze data, and a commitment to fostering a safe and respectful learning environment for all students.
Duties:
- Reports to Principal and helps implement and maintain school culture.
- Use behavior data to help implement and maintain school culture.
- Support teachers and staff with the implmenetation of school culture.
- Support teachers and staff with any behavior or discipline issues that may arise.
- Communicate and meet with parents regarding any behavior or discipline issues that may arise.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Days of Employment per School Year
- 210 days of employment per school year
Education and Experience
- Master's degree in elementary leadership (or higher) with minimum three to five years of successful leadership experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Valid S.C. Licensure in the area of Elementary Principal and/or Supervisor
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Knowledge
- Knowledge of elementary administration
- Knowledge of the methods, policies, procedures and activities of GCA which pertain to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position
- Knowledge of the SC content standards, regulations, and laws relating to educational activities
- Knows how to keep abreast of changes in policy, standards, procedures, and regulations pertinent to the school and in keeping with best administrative practices in general
- Knowledge of the records, forms and reports which must be prepared and maintained
Skills/Effort
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with school staff
- Ability to complete, process, and maintain required records, reports, and other information
- Ability to develop and maintain effective communications with school employees, the faculty and staff, and the general public
- Maintains an enthusiastic, self-reliant and self-starting approach to meeting job functions
- Strives to anticipate work to be accomplished and initiates proper and acceptable actions for the completion of work with a minimum of supervision and instruction
Working Conditions
- Conducts duties in a school environment with some exposure to environmental conditions
- Requires ability to work under a degree of stress related to duties that require constant attention and working with students
- Physical demands include walking or standing and lifting/moving of items related to the job on a recurring basis
- Job requires the operation of standard office equipment
