About the Role
The School Nurse plays a critical role in promoting the health and well-being of students within the educational environment located at 136 School Street-2530C. This position is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care, including assessment, intervention, and follow-up for acute and chronic health conditions among school-aged children. The School Nurse collaborates closely with educators, parents, and healthcare providers to develop individualized health plans that support students' academic success and overall safety. Additionally, the role involves health education, emergency response, and the management of communicable diseases to maintain a healthy school community. Ultimately, the School Nurse ensures that students receive timely and appropriate healthcare services that enable them to thrive both physically and academically.

The required skills such as Pediatric Nursing and School Nursing are essential for assessing and managing the unique health needs of children in a school environment, ensuring safe and effective care delivery. Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner skills enhance the ability to provide advanced clinical assessments, diagnose conditions, and manage treatment plans independently. Medical/Surgical Nursing experience supports the School Nurse in recognizing and responding to a wide range of health issues, including emergencies. These skills are applied daily to conduct health screenings, administer medications, and educate the school community on health promotion. Preferred skills like mental health support and proficiency with electronic health records further enable the nurse to provide holistic care and maintain accurate documentation, contributing to improved student health outcomes.
Qualifications- Graduate from an accredited practical/vocational nursing program with a current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Commonwealth of PA in required.
- Experience with children with autism is preferred.
