Overview:
Physical Requirements:
Assumes complete responsibility for assigned projects, such as acting as study director/ principal investigator, and assumes an executing responsibility for each assigned PKPD studies. Maintains the labs and program to AAALAC and other standards. Designs, plans, and caries out experiments and all the associated research assignments. Compiles, calculates, plots, and analyzes, and with experience, interprets data; records and maintains data in accordance with accepted standards and practices.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as Study Director, Principal Investigator, or Project Coordinator for multiple complex PK/PD studies, acting as the primary contact for sponsors. Responsibilities include strategic planning, oversight, and execution of studies.
- Provide supervisory leadership, ensuring optimal team performance through mentoring, motivation, and recognition.
- Prepare comprehensive scientific reports and deliver clear, concise oral presentations summarizing key findings and project progress.
- Maintain well-organized and compliant electronic lab notebooks and study documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Train and mentor junior scientists, fostering professional development and technical growth.
- Review scientific calculations and data records generated by team members, ensuring accuracy and adherence to protocols.
- Adhere to safety protocols and promote a culture of safety, cleanliness, and responsibility in the laboratory environment.
- Continuously develop and share expertise across multiple disciplines, including DMPK, ADME, In Vivo Sciences, Metabolism, Physiology, Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Bioanalysis.
- Contribute to the development and review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and propose practical, science-based improvements.
- Identifies safety hazards and initiates corrective action. Assists in the safety training for subordinates and/or less experienced staff.
- Supervises and participates in the training of Staff Scientist, Associate Scientist, Assistant Scientist, and Laboratory Assistant.
- Follows the company’s safety policies, practices, and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.

Experience / Education:
- Doctorate degree in an animal related scientific discipline
- 0-3 or more years, or equivalent.

Master’s degree in animal science, biology, or a related scientific discipline.
- >8 years of relevant experience in animal research or related field, or equivalent.

Bachelor’s degree in animal science, biology, or a related discipline.
- >11 years of relevant experience in animal research or related field, or equivalent.
- Any similar combination of education and/or work equivalent experience.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- An expert in advanced experimental methods, concepts and techniques relevant to PKPD scientific discipline
- Demonstrates independent thought and scientific/technical creativity
- Continues to increase awareness and understanding of relevant science and is conversant in relevant scientific literature
- Collaboratively researches and proposes methodologies for projects
- Acts independently to research and propose methodologies and implement them
- Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Good time management skill in order to perform of multiple projects within deadlines
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Follow and adhere to nonGLP guidelines/SOPs consistent with WuXi AppTec requirement
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work in a laboratory/office environment with laboratory noise conditions.
- Must be able to work in Lab setting with exposure to Animals/Biohazards/ Chemicals
- Must be able to wear appropriate PPE
- Must be able to work in environment with variable noise levels
- Ability to stand /sit/walk for long periods of time
- Ability to Lift 30 lbs infrequently
- Ability to crouch, bend, twist, and reach
