Job Description
As a Scrum Master, you will be responsible for facilitating the Agile process, ensuring that our teams follow Scrum practices, and helping teams to be more effective and self-organizing. You’ll work closely with our Product Owners, development teams, and stakeholders to support continuous improvement, foster collaboration, and remove obstacles that prevent the team from meeting its goals.
You will help shape our Agile transformation and serve as a mentor to the team, ensuring Scrum ceremonies are carried out effectively, and encouraging a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitate Scrum Events
Lead and facilitate all Scrum ceremonies (Daily Standups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives).
Help the team keep the ceremonies focused and productive.
Support The Development Team
Remove any obstacles or blockers the team encounters during the sprint.
Foster a collaborative and self-organizing team environment.
Ensure the team follows Agile principles and Scrum best practices.
Support The Product Owner
Help the Product Owner manage and prioritize the product backlog.
Ensure that user stories are clearly defined and meet the Definition of Ready (DoR).
Facilitate communication between the Product Owner and the development team.
Continuous Improvement
Encourage a mindset of continuous improvement within the team.
Facilitate regular retrospectives and work with the team to implement action items for improving efficiency, communication, and team dynamics.
Coaching & Mentoring
Coach team members on Agile principles and Scrum practices to improve their understanding and performance.
Mentor less-experienced Scrum team members and provide guidance on problem-solving and best practices.
Reporting & Tracking
Use Agile project management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello, Asana) to track progress, create burndown charts, and report sprint and project metrics.
Ensure that the team adheres to the agreed-upon sprint goals, timelines, and deliverables.
Collaboration With Stakeholders
Act as a bridge between the development team and other stakeholders, ensuring that expectations are aligned.
Facilitate communication and resolve conflicts or misunderstandings between the development team and other teams or departments.
Agile Evangelist
Advocate for Agile methodologies and help scale Scrum practices across the organization.
Assist in scaling Scrum to multiple teams or across the organization as needed.
Experience
Skills and Qualifications
2+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach in a software development or product team.
Proven experience working with cross-functional teams in Agile environments.
Certifications
Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or equivalent Agile certification is preferred.
Additional Agile or Lean certifications (e.g., SAFe, Certified Scrum Professional) a plus.
Technical Skills
Familiarity with Agile project management tools such as Jira, Trello, Confluence, Asana, or similar.
Basic understanding of software development practices, including version control, continuous integration, and automated testing (ideal but not required).
Soft Skills
Strong facilitation, coaching, and mentoring skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build strong relationships with team members, Product Owners, and other stakeholders.
Conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Desirable
Previous experience working remotely or with distributed teams.
Knowledge of scaling frameworks like SAFe, LeSS, or Nexus.
Understanding of DevOps practices and their relation to Scrum.
