Seaming Technician

JOB SUMMARY

The Automatic Seaming Technician is responsible for the day-to-day electrical and mechanical support for the seaming department, including automatic seaming machines, auto ravelers, and various support equipment. This position reports directly to the Seaming Area Manager. Albany International is also an Equal Opportunity Employer.  Rotating shift - 2 weeks days and then 2 weeks of choice of 2nd or 3rd Shift.  Starting hourly wage is $31.53.  

SAFETY AND PROCEDURES

·   Follow all safety policies/procedures and JIBS applicable to the job.

·   Use appropriate PPE that has been identified on the Hazard Analysis for the department/role.

·   Attend and participate in all safety training, safety meetings, audits and Behavior Based Safety programs assigned.

·   Report all safety hazards observed.  If capable, correct the safety hazard identified.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

·   Work with seamers and ravelers to ensure good machine performance and efficiency

·   Troubleshoot machine problems as they occur

·   Perform preventive maintenance on machines

·   Work with other departments including engineering, R&D seaming, IT, and WIS Technicians  as needed.   

·   Work with Ignition and OEE computer systems

·   Work on various Continuous Improvement projects as directed

·   Help maintain and monitor department inventory

·   Handle chemicals for the seaming department

·   Document maintenance activities performed on machines

·   Install, remove or move equipment as needed

·   Attend seam tech and department meetings

·   Other Duties as directed

Required Experience:

·  One year work experience (Manufacturing)

Education Requirements:

High School Diploma – required

Associates Degree in Electromechanical Technology, Computer Control Engineering Technology, Automated Manufacturing Systems, or related degree strongly preferred. If candidate does not have a degree, must be willing to complete the Industrial Maintenance Foundations Certificate courses through FVTC within 2 years
