Surveys assigned areas or properties for illegal activities, suspicious behavior or dangerous situations. Patrols the premises in order to protect guests and employees against the possibly of armed threats. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Patrols the premises, inside and outside, to observe and report security and safety concerns, including vandalism, thefts, disturbances, and complaints. Reports incidents to the shift supervisor or manager.
- Assists guests by answering questions and providing directions and instructions.
- Maintains confidential information that is received in verbal, written, and electronic media.
- Escorts and observes guests and team members to ensure their safety and protection; identifies potential safety hazards and report same to the appropriate individual, for proper resolution.
- Maintains proficiency in the use of all assigned protective equipment, restraint devices and weapons.
- Greet guests and employees in a cheerful and welcoming manner.
- Participate in industry specific security/safety /active threat training programs.
- Understand safety and emergency procedures and how to implement them.
- Maintains a working knowledge of the facilities, as well as special events on property, in order to advise guests and fellow team members of same, whenever possible.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory, internal control, and company policies and procedures.
- Must project professionalism, and a consistently friendly demeanor while interacting with internal and external guests.
- Observes and monitors guest and employee behaviors.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED certificate required.
- Current or honorably retired police officer with Oregon DPSST Police or equivalent certification required. Or current or honorably discharged military with MP or equivalent certification.
- Good moral character and calm mature demeanor.
- Ability to relate to and communicate with other people in a friendly and non-threatening manner.
- Must be able to maintain composure and make effective decisions in stressful situations when dealing with challenging circumstances.
- Ability to work positively within constantly changing internal and external environments.
- Able to handle large number of patrons at any given time and delegate effectively.
- Current DPSST recognized LEOSA concealed carry permit, or a Concealed Carry Permit issued by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
- Physically able to engage in an armed combat situation.
- At the direction and discretion of the Director of Security and/or Security Manager, engage in armed intruder defense training.
- Participate in an ongoing training and qualification program with their assigned weapon.
- Meet the minimum firearms training standards set forth by the Oregon State Police (OSP) as prescribed for their assignment. Failure to meet these standards may result in notification of the Director of Security. Exceptions to any mandatory training or qualification standard must be approved by the Director of Security.
- Specific firearms policies, as used by the OSP are available upon request.
- Twenty-one (21) years of age or older.
- Must obtain an OLCC permit within the first 90 days of employment.
- Ability to obtain a Class III gaming license.
- Current and valid Oregon Driver’s License with the ability to qualify for the UIDC Drivers Program.
