SUMMARY:
The Senior Director of the Ambulatory Surgery Centers is responsible for providing day-to-day operational leadership for five Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs), while focusing on strategic growth and improved financial performance. The Senior Director will provide leadership to the overall business line including the Directors of Nursing that will manage all aspects of ASC operations, processes, and staffing (including Anesthesia). The leader will serve as a key partner to the Chief Operating Officer and will provide feedback and influence the strategy and vision for the Surgery Center business. This leader will also partner closely with Acuity and external surgeons so that processes are implemented that will result in improved clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities and Expectations
- Advise executive team on strategic growth opportunities and develop short-term and long-term recommendations.
- Collaborate with Finance partners to establish financial performance goals are met.
- Drive operational excellence throughout all levels of the ASCs and identify and develop recommendations.
- Develop statistical indicators to use in evaluating overall operations. Monitor all key metrics and proactively report to leadership any areas of risk or opportunity.
- Partner with Legal and Compliance to ensure all regulatory, licensing, and credentialing meet and/or exceed requirements.
- Business Operations
- Develop, monitor and control staffing, operational budget, capital budget, and external contracts in partnership.
- Closely monitor variations in the financial performance of the facility to avoid cash flow problems.
- Ensure compliance to policies and procedures as related to internal controls as well as with government regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies.
- Act in accordance with the core values, vision, mission, and business philosophy of Acuity.
- Team Leadership
- Partner with the ASC Directors of Nursing on talent acquisition processes.
- Lead, coach and mentor staff, partnering across departments as needed.
- Partner and collaborate with the Medical Director and serve as a liaison in problem areas with the medical staff. Promote positive relationships between employees and practitioners.
- Clinical Services & Quality Improvement
- Ensure delivery of compassionate quality care. Review complaints or concerns from patients or families about ASC services.
- Direct the clinical departments of nursing, central supply, medical records, and housekeeping; provide oversight for the contracted services of laboratory, radiology, pharmaceuticals, laundry and biomedical engineering.
- Proactively develop procedures to promote workplace safety and safe work practices.
- Work in conjunction with the Medical Executive Committee in the evaluation and development of existing and new surgical services.
- Collaborate with the Medical Director and ASC Directors in the review and revision of the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations on a biannual basis.
- Maintain patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality per policy.
- Review and ensure correction of quality of care issues.
- Maintains an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with Company policies.
- Keeps commitments and keeps direct supervisor informed of work progress, timetables, and issues.
- Maintains strict compliance with State, Federal and other regulations (e.g., OSHA, WC, HIPAA, ADA, FEHA, DOL, HR policies and practices).
- Other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES:
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's Degree in nursing or other health profession, business administration, public administration or other related field.
- Minimum 7-9 years of administrative management experience in the health care field.
- Minimum 5 years of related surgical, ambulatory and/or outpatient experience.
- Strong leadership skills and a high degree of confidence and experience in managing physician relationships, surgical operations, and business/program development.
- Ability to influence and effectively interact with patients, staff, peers and leaders.
- Ability to frequently move about a facility to direct employees and activities.
DESIRABLE:
- Master's Degree in one of the health professions, business administration, public administration or other related field preferred.
- Experience in the Ophthalmology industry.
- Experience with regulatory and accreditation processes preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
- This is primarily a clinical surgery center classification but requires frequent field visits and driving, which requires the ability to drive an automobile. Temperature conditions are controlled with limited direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. There is regular exposure to doctors, patients, staff, and vendors.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, keyboard, to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, see, talk and hear. The employee will frequently lift and/or carry reports, records and other materials that typically weigh less than 20 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, bend, or crouch.
- Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, calculator, and other standard office equipment.
