Your journey starts now—protect and innovate with ManTech!MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Shipboard Maintenance Technician to join our team in Dam Neck, VA; Virginia Beach. This is an onsite position.
As a Senior Shipboard Maintenance Technician, you will support the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Underway Replenishment (UNREP) Division's efforts for Military Sealift Command (MSC) platforms. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the operational readiness of critical Navy equipment.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Become a subject matter expert in UNREP equipment maintenance and operation through extensive on-the-job learning and training at the UNREP Test Site
Assist with UNREP equipment overhaul during maintenance availabilities, including troubleshooting and system operability tests
Collaborate with senior engineers and ship managers to plan and execute advanced maintenance tasks for UNREP systems
Lead troubleshooting efforts to restore UNREP equipment to operational use, working closely with cross-functional teams
Maintain detailed records of ship visits, equipment support, and maintenance outcomes for reporting purposes
Assist in training crews in UNREP procedures at the UNREP Test Site
Ensure compliance with all NAVSEA and shipyard installation requirements
Provide expert guidance on equipment handling, installations, and operation, ensuring optimal performance of UNREP systems
Use wiring lists, schematics, blueprints, and verbal/written instructions to route, tag, test, and terminate shipboard cables
Report progress and findings to senior leadership and collaborate with other departments on program planning and execution
Perform other duties as assigned to support shipboard maintenance operations
Must possess a valid passport and be able to travel domestically and internationally for ship visits and maintenance tasks (up to 50%)
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
5+ years of experience in a technical field (e.g., US Navy / MSC technical rating, automotive or oil industry, or similar fields requiring maintenance on large-scale equipment)
5+ years of experience with UNREP equipment, similar Navy systems, automotive or oil industry, or similar fields completing troubleshooting and maintenance
2+ years of experience with preventative maintenance to ensure proper operation of large-scale equipment or shipboard systems
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with Shipyard and NAVSEA installation requirements and supporting documentation
Experience with basic maritime electrical wiring requirements, tag out procedures, and electrical equipment inspections
Proficiency with reading and interpreting ship schematics, wiring lists, and technical manuals
Strong communication skills and ability to work professionally with employees, clients, and management
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing requirements
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Clearance Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain an active Secret clearance
Physical Requirements:
Ability to remain in a stationary position for 50% of the time
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs, planks, or galleyways and work in confined spaces
Ability to operate standard office equipment (computers, printers, etc.)
Capability to go onboard ships and work in an industrial and operational environment
Ability to climb ladders and go through scuttles onboard vessels
Occasional movement around the office to access files and equipment
