As a Senior Systems Engineer on our R&D team, you will play a key role in system design, integration, and testing. Onsite in Brooklyn, New York

Job Responsibilities

· Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., marketing, clinical, regulatory, software, hardware, and quality teams) to capture and refine requirements.

· Support integration and testing of complex systems involving hardware, software, and mechanical components, ensuring interoperability and compliance with specifications.

· Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues using cross-disciplinary knowledge and root cause analysis.

· Manage requirements throughout the development lifecycle, including change control and impact analysis.

· Ensure traceability between user needs, system requirements, subsystem requirements, verification, and validation.

· Define and maintain the system architecture and interfaces, working closely with subsystem owners.

· As our team and goals grow, your responsibilities may adapt to meet changing needs or new opportunities.

 

Required Qualifications

· A degree in System Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computational Neuroscience, or related technical discipline with the following:

o BS with 5-10 years of experience working in regulated industry or,

o MS with 3-8 years of experience working in regulated industry or,

o PhD with 0-2 years of experience working in regulated industry

 

Desired Qualifications

· Experience performing benchtop testing of medical devices or subsystems, including setup, data collection, troubleshooting, and interpretation of results.

· Ability to develop and maintain Python (or other programming language) scripts to support data analysis, testing, and process automation for medical systems in a quality-driven environment.

· Familiarity with BCI systems, including neural data acquisition, decoding algorithms, neurostimulation, or brain-signal processing

· Familiarity with embedded systems, firmware/software integration, and/or hardware-software design.

· Experience in system-level architecture, requirements development and traceability, and integration of systems which include AI-based algorithms and neural interfaces.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, including experience writing technical documentation and requirements.

· Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to lead discussions between engineering, regulatory, clinical, and quality teams.

· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, quickly learn new concepts, meet deadlines, and perform effectively in a regulated, quality-driven environment.

 

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is $130,000-$160,000, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and/or equity grants subject to board approval and company policy.
