Shipping Department

Job Summary: Perform duties required to select and pack linens to fill orders. Duties include but are not limited to reading order requirements, selecting appropriate carts, and filling carts with necessary goods. Does other related work as required.

Major Duties and Responsibilities (may include, but not limited to the following):

• Receive items off of automatic conveyors
• Select carts/baskets/bins to pack orders
• Ensure that carts are prepared according to VHL standards including ensuring that the cart is clean, dry, and appropriately lined
• Pack orders according to VHL packing order and specifications
• Maintain order in packing multiple carts and items simultaneously
• Follow quality assurance processes to ensure the linens maintain their clean/hygienic state
• Complete paperwork and shipping tickets accurately to ensure correct billing
• Cover linen during staging and as necessary to maintain cleanliness
• Observe Universal Precautions at all times
• Move laundry carts that have been filled with goods to work area
• Follow all HLAC guidelines

• Performs other duties as directed by management

Education:

Previous relevant experience in a laundry or production environment is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Knowledge of safe work practices
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work
• Ability to perform all physical aspects of assigned duties;
• Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used the course of processing clean healthcare textiles
• Must follow all HLAC guidelines

Essential Job Functions:

• Must be able to stand for the entire shift which is a minimum of 8 hours per day
• • Between 95-98% of this time may be spent stooping, climbing, walking, bending, pushing, and/or pulling
• Must be able to push linen carts/baskets/bins
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
• Must be capable of regular, full-time attendance
• Must be capable of rotating shifts and working on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays as needed
