JOB TITLE: Forklift Operator DATE: 8/2024
REPORTS TO: Shipping/VRT Supervisor STATUS: Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a forklift used to load trucks, supply packaging materials, and transport product to and from the shipping areas.
DAILY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Utilize a forklift to load and unload trucks used for shipping finished product, as well as handle and transport materials throughout the facility.
- Hand stack, palletize, label, and conduct inventory counts as needed.
- Stage product and inspects shipping tags and documents to ensure accuracy.
- Always maintain a current forklift certification.
- Perform general cleaning of loading dock areas and associated warehouse and product travel paths.
- Assist with training of co-workers as needed.
- Participate as an active team member of production in assigned area.
- Assist in training of co-workers as directed.
- Ensure compliance with established food safety programs, including HACCP programs, SSOPs and GMPs.
- Effectively follow directions of the lead, supervisor, or manager at all times.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Effectively communicate and positively interact with team members in all departments.
- Attend meetings and trainings as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or lead.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:
- Ability to comprehend and follow instructions.
- Ability to work in a refrigerated environment ranging from 35-50 degrees Fahrenheit.
- MUST be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to frequent changes to the needs of production.
- MUST be a team player.
- MUST be able to pass required physical including demonstrating your ability to lift the required weight for each position.
- MUST be able to stand and/or walk for entire 8-hour shift.
- MUST wear correct job specific PPE as designated by company policy.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of one year experience operating a sit down or stand up forklift, skid steer, high reach, powered pallet jack, or riding pallet jack is preferred.
- Previous experience in a warehouse or production or manufacturing facility is preferred.
