Slasher Operator

Overview
The right individual will be hired to work on our logging crew to operate a slasher, which is a type of heavy machinery used for cutting timber into specific lengths and sometimes loading them onto trucks for transport. This role is critical in the timber harvesting process and requires a keen eye and steady hand.

• Make precise cuts according to specific measurements, requiring an understanding of how to measure logs and how to handle them carefully.
• Sort logs efficiently, which can involve organizing them by size, species, or quality.
• Streamlining movements to reduce fatigue and time wastage.
• Planning cuts and sorts to minimize machine movement.
• Follow guidelines for sustainable forestry practices.
• Work carefully to avoid unnecessary damage to the surrounding environment.
• Communicate effectively with other team members, including signals and radio communication.
• Help when and where needed, sometimes outside your typical duties.
• Being punctual and prepared for each shift.
• Showing initiative to take on additional responsibilities when necessary.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38 – 45 per week

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• Slasher Operation: 2 years (Required)
• Chainsaw: 2 years (Required)

License/Certification:

• CPR Certification (Preferred)
• Driver's License (Required)
