Sidekick Accounting is excited to be hiring for a Part-time Small Business Tax Preparer with a regular schedule of 25 hours per week with an option to pick up more hours during the busy season. This is an existing position within our growing small business accounting firm. Our company is based out of central WI with a fully remote team. The ideal candidate who is organized will enjoy working in an environment that is always evolving to better serve our clients. As a Small Business Tax Preparer on our remote team, you will bring your experience, excellent communication skills and high attention to detail best practices to our team-centered culture. A successful candidate is driven to check projects off your list and get things done. This is a part-time role with a set schedule that allows some flexibility in when your workload can be performed. Monthly and weekly meetings will include some fixed hours to ensure your team engagement.
Your day-to-day work will include reviewing and assessing paperwork, accurately transferring data into tax preparation software (We use TaxAct) for 1040 plus Schedule C & E returns, 1065 returns, 1120S returns and a few 990s. If you have been professionally working paperless for at least the last three years, you will easily utilize technology to manage client notes, return statuses and workflows. Collaboration with other team members to collect and support our clients. Our workdays fluctuate to include high demand during the bulk of tax season and slow down to more project-based work on the off season. One of our pillars is proactivity. This position will assist in identifying areas in tax preparation and tax planning in order to be proactive on behalf of our clients.

Responsibilities:
- Review & assess paperwork to gather and complete client gaps in missing information
- Accurately transfer detailed data to tax return online solutions utilizing our tax software TaxAct for supervisor review and submission
- Utilize our project management system to track and ensure timeliness of client return statuses and tasks (We use Citrix Podio)
- Capture and document client notes electronically to ensure efficient and timely follow up process
- Meet and advise with clients
- Effectively communicate with internal staff for collaboration
- Monitor and assist with tax planning implementation and status tracking
- Communicate with government entities in response to tax notices from the clients via phone and/or email
- Meet or exceed goals for continued success
- Meet or exceed deadlines as assigned
- Attend, timely and prepared, all company and team meetings as assigned
- Other tasks as assigned
Ideal Candidates are:
- Excellent at organization
- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
- Strong at following established processes
- 3+ years of preparing 1040 Schedule C and/or Schedule E, 1065 & 1120S Returns or an Enrolled Agent designation
- Professional remote work experience of 3+ years
- Possess a high personal sense of urgency
- High-Attention to Detail
- Experience working paperless 3+ years while utilizing a project management system
- Available from 9:30 to 10:30am CST on Mondays and Thursdays for company meetings
- Dedicated work area

Benefits and compensation: This position is eligible for an hourly rate of $22-26 an hour dependent upon experience. Additional benefits include bonuses, paid time off and paid holidays.
