Part-time Social Worker Casual position

Job Description:

Alexandria City Public School (ACPS) Adult Education program is seeking a part-time social worker/therapist for a part-time position within the Adult Education Program for the 2025-2026 school year. An ideal candidate will have a background in school social work or a related field, trauma-informed care, clinical case management responsibilities, and previous experience working with adolescents.

Duties for this position would include, but are not limited to:

Direct support to students

• Counseling (group, individual)
• Assist with student attendance
• Social Emotional Learning classroom presentations
• Developing intervention strategies to increase academic success
• Helping students develop appropriate social interaction skills
• Assisting with conflict resolution and anger management
• Providing trauma-focused individual counseling
Providing crisis intervention to students in need

• Education: Master’s degree in Social Work.

• Certificates & Licenses: Valid Virginia Department of Education license with an endorsement in Social Work, or eligibility to obtain one.

• Key Competencies: Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of individuals from diverse backgrounds. Bilingual preferred, not required
  

Clearances:

• Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
• Tuberculosis Skin Test.

Public Health Compliance

- Approximately 3 days per week, 8:30am – 1:30pm, $46 an hour -
