RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide suitable licensed foster homes for youths who have been separated from their families and placed in agency custody. Identify appropriate placement for youths who enter custody through the Department of Social Services or need replacement after disruption. Conduct home studies and mutual home assessments; assess strengths and needs of resource parents; provide training and supervision to resource parents; submit information to the state for initial licensure, relicensure, termination, change, and transfer of the foster home license. Facilitate 30 hours of Pre Service training to potential resource parents at least twice a year.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques, practices and their application to individual casework group work and community problems.
- Knowledge of the psychosocial, socioeconomic and behaivoral problems and their treatment.
- Knowledge of governmental and private organizations and community resources. Knowlege of laws, regulations and policies which govern the program.
- General knowlege of medical terminology, disease processes and thier treatment is required in certain programs or settings.
- Skill in establishing rapport with a client and applying techniques of assessing psychosocial, behavioral, and psychological aspects of client's problem.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative superiors, peers, members of case load and their families, and with civic, medical, social and religious organizations.
- Ability to facilitate the state approved Pre Service Curriculum to potential resource parents evenings and weekends.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work.
- Ability to express ideas, thoughts, and information concisely and effectively through various forms of professional writting.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution; bachelor's degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of directly related experience; bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires a valid North Carolina driver's license and acceptable driving record.
