Position Summary

Plans, organizes and implements social work services for patients living with HIV during their inpatient stay.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Completes Ryan White Program intakes and assessments.

  • Counsels patients/families about the basic medical and psychosocial aspects of HIV/AIDS in order to optimize adherence to care.

  • Provides psychotherapy services for patients and their families.

  • Conducts family therapy with participants in research study including documentation.

  • Prepares psychosocial reports and maintains necessary records.

  • Schedules patient appointments and provides telephone follow-up.

  • Facilitates referrals and community resources for patients/families.

  • Verifies insurance coverage for patients.

  • Answers inquiries from patients/families about community resources.

  • Maintains current knowledge of medical and psychosocial developments concerning HIV/AIDS and related conditions, and routinely interacts with providers, clinicians, pharmacists, and others involved in service delivery.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work.
  • Currently a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location.
  • Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with people living with HIV.
  • Experience working with HIV Services.

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University.
