We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Software and Firmware Quality Engineering Manager to lead and manage a team of 6+ talented Software and Firmware QA Engineers. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the overall quality strategy, ensuring best-in-class software and firmware products, and fostering a high-performance team culture. You will report to the Head of Software Engineering and will work closely with cross-functional teams including Hardware Development, Product Management and GTM teams to ensure the entire development lifecycle takes a quality first approach.
In your role as Software and Firmware Quality Engineering Manager Lead at Kohler Ventures you will:
- Work directly with the Head of Software, software/hardware engineering team, and product teams
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 6+ Software and Firmware QA Engineers
- Define and drive quality assurance processes, standards, and best practices across software and firmware development cycles
- Oversee the deployment and integration of test automation into the CI/CD pipeline.
- Oversee the planning, development, and execution of test strategies, test plans, and test cases for both manual and automated testing
- Collaborate with Hardware development teams to ensure quality is embedded throughout the SDLC
- Coordinate and prioritize testing activities to meet release schedules and project milestones
- Implement and monitor quality metrics and KPIs to assess product quality and team performance
- Identify and mitigate risks related to product quality and delivery timelines
- Advocate for continuous improvement in QA practices, tools, and methodologies
- Participate in release readiness reviews and Scrum meetings to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules, estimates, or potential problems. and ensure all quality criteria are met before product launch
Skills/Requirements
Required Qualifications
- You hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience as a Software QA Engineer, with at least 3 years in a team management role
- Experience in development using Python
- Experience with functional, regression, and end-to-end testing
- Experience with test automation tools/frameworks such as Appium, Espresso or XCUI.
- Experience validating iOS, Android
- Ability to translate business requirements into test plans and develop test automation at all layers of the software stack
- Minimal travel, both domestically and internationally, is needed
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Availability to work outside of standard business hours to be able to collaborate with teams and vendors across multiple time zones
- Minimal travel both domestically and internationally
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge in software and hardware/firmware and information security for cloud and IoT devices
- Experience validating embedded firmware for IoT devices

The approved base salary range for this position is $126,900 - $158,600. The actual base salary offered to a candidate may be higher than the approved range. This will vary depending on a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. This position is subject to Area Salary Differential (Cost of Living Adjustment) that ranges from 16% of base salary for the NYC metro area. The approved base salary range including ASD for this position is $147,204 - $183,976 depending on location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus and a special project incentive. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision and 401k.
