OVERVIEW & HIGHLIGHTS


The Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District is seeking a qualified individual as a Special Projects Accountant. The Incumbent under the direction of an assigned supervisor, District Business Services, organize and document all expenditures relating to the District categorical programs; develop budget control data for these special projects; prepare complex application and claim documents for state and federal funded projects. Oversee College Budget Analysts to direct them with their categorical budgets. Provide support to restricted fund budget managers regarding budget preparation, budget revisions, monitoring of fiscal guidelines, reports, and analysis. Initial Salary Placement: New employees start at Step A ($31.26 per hour) or B ($33.06 per hour) on the salary schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

An associate degree in business, accounting, math or related field, or equivalent experience.

EXPERIENCE:

Four years' experience in fiscal control and reporting, preferably in an educational or governmental environment, or equivalent experience

VETERAN'S POINTS:
  • Veterans not previously employed by the District, with 30 days or more of service who become eligible for appointment by attaining the passing mark established for the examination, shall be allowed an additional credit of five (5) points and disabled veterans shall be allowed an additional credit of ten (10) points, which shall be added to the percentages attained in the examinations by the veterans.
  • Any applicant who claims veteran's credit must submit Form DD 214 at the time the employment application is submitted. Failure to submit Form DD 214 at the time of application shall result in no veteran's credits being considered or added to any passing score.
ASSESSMENT PROCESS:
  • The assessment process for this position may include any combination of the following:
    • An application screening for initial qualifications
    • Supplemental training and experience screening, documentation(s)/ certification(s) screening
    • Written examination (Written exams contain proprietary content and are in-person only and cannot be completed remotely.)
    • Performance examination (Performance exams are conducted in-person at the same time as the written exam.)
    • Oral examination (Oral exams are conducted over Zoom. If you lack reliable computer or internet connectivity, accommodations will be provided in the Personnel Commission office for your participation.)
  • The District reserves the right to utilize a flexible pass point (cut-off) on any test part to meet the staffing needs as determined by the District.
  • If you participate in and fail any examination segment, you must wait a period of 90 days (approximately 3 months) to apply/test again for the same classification during a posted recruitment.
