SR. QUALITY ENGINEER (STARLINK)
Starlink believes in providing fast, reliable internet to those that need it most. We design, build, and launch the world's largest and most advanced satellite constellation that is capable of delivering high-speed internet to even the most remote locations. And while our hardware and network are incredibly advanced, we keep the end-user experience impressively simple - our customers have internet within 10 minutes of unboxing.
As a Sr. Quality Engineer, you will spearhead state of the art production processes for our printed circuit boards (PCBs). You will design and implement environmentally friendly chemical recycling strategies, develop highly capable processes for use in mass production, and become a multi-disciplinary expert in PCB fabrication. Your work will form the backbone for millions of next generation consumer facing devices that we ship directly to customers and businesses all over the world. From private homes, RVs, planes, or boats, this team plays an instrumental role in leveling the playing field for high-speed connectivity. You will own various PCB production processes, from initial machine design to running hands-on process DOEs, and will interact regularly with senior leadership during critical design phases. By the end of this year, the Starlink factory in Bastrop will be the largest PCB manufacturing facility by volume in North America.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide management system training and guidance to SpaceX management, departments, and internal customers
- Build, implement, and improve policy, procedures and systems that meet SpaceX business objectives to assure compliance to customer requirements and industry standards
- Asses SpaceX business processes, systems, and products through internal audit program to assure compliance to customer requirements, SpaceX procedures and policies, and ISO 9001 / AS9100 standards
- Utilize corrective and preventive action processes to correct compliance non-conformances and drive improvement of the management system
- Initiate change request of management system procedures, policies, and internal audit checklist while leading implementation efforts
- Support internal audits, vendor/supplier audits, and audits from external parties
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, materials science, physics, or other applied engineering or STEM discipline
- 5+ years of professional experience in quality, failure analysis, mechanical or electrical quality systems, testing, or manufacturing
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Post-graduate degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, materials science, physics, or other applied engineering or STEM discipline
- Industry experience with ISO family of standards especially ISO9001
- Experience with failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and 8D reporting
- Intimate knowledge of manufacturing processes and associated products and/or the ability to quickly work towards achieving this
- Experience with quality tools including root cause and corrective action, QMS and process auditing, and statistical analysis of quality metrics
- Working knowledge of SQL – ability to construct and/or maintain Tableau metrics
- Strong technical writing skills, ability to communicate effectively with management, technical teams and all organizations in the business, and strong problem-solving skills
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted
- Lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position
- Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed
- Must be willing to work onsite in Bastrop, TX (Remote/hybrid work not considered)
