The Role:
- Analysis and design trade-off studies of electrical architecture and power converter topologies
- Design and build hardware of power electronics converters for use in automotive applications.
- Start to finish ownership of hardware – from specification to design, component selection, prototype, testing, validation, and high-volume manufacturing.
- Collaborate with mechanical, PCB layout, firmware engineers to design and validate power converters.
- Work with manufacturing team to ensure efficient and high-yield production of the power converter.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of power electronics topologies (AC/DC, DC/DC & DC/AC)
- Hands-on hardware experience in power converter (AC/DC, DC/DC & DC/AC) design
- Good understanding of power conversion topologies and control strategies, switching device characteristics and losses, gate driving circuit design, magnetics, capacitors etc.
- Good experience with design of analog/digital circuits
- Experience in PCB layout.
- Proficiency with lab equipment (Oscilloscopes, Network analyzers, Signal Generators etc.)
- Experience with Design for Manufacturing and DFMEA
Advantageous:
- Familiar with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools
- Familiar with electromagnetic compatibility
- Familiar with environmental, reliability, and safety requirements for automotive applications
Education Requirements:
- BS/MS degree in Electrical Engineering. PhD preferred.
