The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) Legal Division is recruiting to fill one permanent full-time Staff Services Analyst (SSA)/Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) position in the Legal Operations Branch (LOB). The position is located in the Sacramento Headquarters office and reports to a Staff Services Manager I in the Legal, Policy, and Program Services Unit (LPPSU). This position is eligible for a hybrid (remote telework and in-office) work schedule.

The SSA/AGPA is an integral member of the LOB team and is responsible for administrative work in the LPPSU which is critical to the overall success of the Unit.

The SSA/AGPA will provide direct support for the Information, Technology and Administrative Litigation (ITAL) Branch with emphasis on the Information, Personnel, and Audits (IPA) Bureau related work. The SSA/AGPA serves as liaison for Ethics Training, Automated Form 700 E-Disclosure, and Incompatible Activities filing; logs information into databases, spreadsheets, and/or other tracking platforms; ensures the proper electronic filing of information housed in data repositories.

Duties will include receipt and assignment of highly confidential personnel documents and working with attorneys and paralegals to coordinate production, adhering to all mandated time frames and deadlines; assisting paralegal staff with preparing exhibits and trial binders; preparing reports derived from case management and assignment systems; creating dashboards.

The SSA/AGPA establishes and maintains the policies and procedures related to legal policy support, training, desk manuals, and various other administrative protocols; analyzes internal processes and makes recommendations for process improvement; provides support to management and staff related to SharePoint site organization, management, functionality, and navigation; may create automated workflows using various tools. The incumbent will also serve as the SharePoint Super User for the ITAL Branch.

Working Conditions

This work location is very convenient! The CDSS is located two blocks from the light rail and public transportation: within walking distance to the State Capitol, parks, restaurants, farmer’s markets and the Golden 1 Arena. Our building has easy access to I-5, Highway 50, and Highway 80.

This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under California Government Code Section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Specific telework arrangements may be discussed in more detail with the respective hiring manager. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the Department of Social Services policies.
