Job Summary:
We are looking for a compassionate, patient, and highly skilled Security Officer to join our team. This role involves maintaining safety and security in an environment where interaction with unhoused individuals and those struggling with addiction is a regular part of the job. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong de-escalation skills, empathy, and professionalism in challenging situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and secure premises, ensuring the safety of guests, staff, and property.
- Interact respectfully and effectively with unhoused and drug-affected individuals in and around the property.
- Respond to incidents and emergencies using non-violent, de-escalation techniques to resolve conflicts calmly and safely.
- Conduct regular patrols and provide a visible security presence.
- Work closely with local law enforcement, emergency services, and social support agencies when necessary.
- Maintain detailed incident reports, documenting any security concerns or breaches.
- Uphold the company’s commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all.
Qualifications:
- VALID GUARD CARD IS REQUIRED, NO EXCEPTIONS
- Must have prior security experience (at least 2 years), preferably with unhoused individuals
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, social services, or related fields is preferred.
- Proven ability to de-escalate tense or potentially violent situations calmly and effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a high level of emotional intelligence.
- Familiarity with challenges associated with homelessness, addiction, and mental health issues.
- Physically fit and capable of standing, walking, or patrolling for extended periods.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
- Must possess a valid security license (if required by state law).
