About Us:
Skeffington’s Formalwear has been helping the Midwest dress to impress since 1951. We’re family-owned, locally loved, and all about making sure every suit, tuxedo, and accessory looks sharp and feels right, whether it’s for a wedding, prom, gala, or that important Tuesday. With a blend of classic style and modern flair (hello, MetroFlex stretch suits!), we’re proud to serve generations of customers with warmth, professionalism, and a dash of fun.
We’re currently looking for a full-time Store Manager to lead our Des Moines team, someone with a sharp eye for style, strong leadership chops, and a passion for delivering top-tier service. If you’re ready to take the next step in retail leadership and want room to grow with a beloved local brand, keep reading.
What You’ll Do:
Lead the Way – Manage daily store operations, motivate your team, and ensure every customer experience is smooth, friendly, and fabulous. You’ll set the tone and lead by example.
Keep It Running (and Looking) Sharp – Oversee inventory, manage incoming/outgoing merchandise, and ensure visual merchandising stays on point. You’ll also track sales goals and use basic analytics to optimize performance.
Be a People Person & a Process Pro – Balance customer service with operations. Greet walk-ins, handle fittings and rentals, resolve issues with a calm head, and always keep customer satisfaction front and center.
Grow the Business – Use data, team insights, and your retail smarts to help identify growth opportunities. You’ll collaborate with leadership and contribute to Skeffington’s continued success story.
Inventory Jedi – Manage stock levels, track formalwear rentals and returns, and help with seasonal planning. You know where every vest, tie, and tux is (or you know how to find it fast).
Train & Develop – Build and guide a winning team. From training new hires to coaching performance, you’ll help others level up while leveling up yourself.
What You Bring to the Table:
Proven experience in retail or hospitality management (formalwear is a plus, but not required)
Strong organizational and multitasking skills—juggling suits, staff, and spreadsheets like a pro
Customer-first mindset with a warm, engaging personality
Confidence in using POS systems, basic reporting tools, and other digital platforms
A sharp eye for style and attention to detail (nothing gets past you—not even a crooked bow tie)
Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and during peak seasons (wedding season is kind of our Super Bowl)
Why You’ll Love Working Here:
Room to Grow – We’re a small-but-mighty company with big opportunities for career growth and leadership advancement
Positive Vibes – Enjoy a supportive team culture, fun store events, and the joy of helping people look and feel their best
Make a Difference – Play a meaningful role in milestone moments—weddings, proms, and unforgettable celebrations
Style with a Purpose – Work in a polished, fashion-forward space where every day is a little bit fancy.
