Our Camp Counselor provides direct supervision for participants at our seasonal day camp program based in the Newark area and at activities in the community. Hours are Monday through Friday 8:30am to 3:30pm from June 26th through August 25th.
Summer camp staff create positive, nurturing relationships with children, while building cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers. The team promotes and supports the potential of all program participants in and facilitates peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall camp experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plans, prepares and implements daily activities for participants.
- Creates innovative games and activities to keep children engaged.
- Works to teach a variety of activities, aiding in the supervision of all activities, including field trips, leading games and any other small or large group activities.
- Establishes relationships with participants and their families.
- Effectively communicates with campers, staff and families.
- Maintains group backpack including group binder, camper information sheets, necessary medications when off site, and first aid kit.
- Handles all behavior, medical, and other incidents within their group, requesting assistance from camp leadership when necessary.
- Attends trainings, seminars and meetings as required.
- Adheres and incorporates the organization's values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility and educates members about the HPR mission and goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, archery, boating, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games.
- Ability to provide supervision to a variety of ages is essential.
- Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings
