River City Youth Foundation(RCYF) seeks an energetic and multi-talented Summer Camp Lead Instructor to inspire under-resourced youth in southeast Austin's Dove Springs community this summer.
River City Youth Foundation is Austin's longest running youth organization celebrating 42 years. We work with one of Austin's fastest growing area of kids.
Our Summer Camp Lead Instructor uses their talents to produce FUN, highly interactive activities on-site at our beautiful multi-acre campus in Dove Springs. Indoor, outdoor, rain or shine, we lead children ages 7 to 17 years old in activities that range from tech and sports to music and art.
The goal is to teach youth an abundance of skills to make healthy choices at home and in school that will boost their lives all the way around as well as the community around them.
What's a Day Like?
- Create and facilitate fun and engaging curriculum daily for Elem/MS/HS students including learning activities (tech, arts, science, sports) and outdoor recreation
- Lead daily camp groups from ages 7 to 17 yrs
- Complete daily/weekly reports
- Supervise students on weekly field trips and be a field trip van or vehicle driver
- Coordinate with guest experts and volunteers for the camp
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers
- Communicate and coordinate daily with camp administration on student outcomes in the group and on group progress

Education & Experience
- Proven leadership experience in an educational setting or youth camp (1-5 years of experience preferred)
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage and engage a diverse group of students and staff
- Creativity & enthusiasm for developing engaging learning and outdoor activities
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently as needed
- Demonstrated experience of maintaining safe and secure youth environments
- Experience with Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and photo/video apps.
- High comfort level working with technology devices and emerging technology.
Work Schedule
Summer camps run Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Mondays are camp planning days and required. Must be available during these times:
Mondays - 12pm to 6pm
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays - 9am to 4pm
Additional Requirements
Background check and positive driving record required. Must have own transportation. Spanish fluency a plus.
