ANCC Magnet designated UPMC Passavant is currently hiring a Full-Time Supervisor to support the Sterilization Department at the McCandless location. Salary will be determined based upon education and experience.
Shift Details:
- 3p - 11:30p
- Shifts will be further discussed during the interview.
- Each supervisor will be assigned designated weekends or holidays to be available by phone for urgent department needs
- While not physically present, the on-call supervisor is expected to respond to calls or texts in a timely manner
- If there is no scheduled coverage or in the event of unexpected call-offs, the on-call supervisor may be required to come in to support operations
Desired qualifications and attributes:
- Skilled in computer use, including Microsoft Office Suite, email communication and digital documentation
- Advanced knowledge or Censitrac functions, reporting, data entry and troubleshooting system issues
- Ability to quickly identify and resolve equipment, software or workflow problems
- Strong ability to train, coach and mentor team members
- Willingness to work alongside staff on the floor when needs arise
- Capable of planning, organizing and executing departmental projects effectively
- Committed to continuous improvement, process enhancements and implementing best practices
- Serves as a go-to leader who fosters a supportive, positive environment to retain and engage staff
Responsibilities:

- Develops and evaluates central sterile processing staff; manages scheduling, motivation and compliance
- Oversees instrument sterilization, tracking, ordering and set optimization
- Remains assessable for troubleshooting across OR and sterile processing
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- 3 years' experience in central sterile processing.
- 2 years supervisory or team leader experience required.
- Ability to communicate effectively with peers, physicians, staff of other hospital departments, and outside contacts.
- Must complete 10 hours of continuing education to remain qualified as a Central Sterile Technician on an annual basis.
- Must be able to stand for all shift hours and be able to pick up, push, pull etc. 35 pounds.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: - Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution OR Certified Registered Central Service Technician with Healthcare Sterile Processing Association
