JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary:
The Evening Sterile Processing Technician Supervisor coordinates and facilitates daily operations of the OR Instrument Room. Ensures high quality and compliant output from the department. Responsible for organizing, implementing, and monitoring of instrument decontamination, assembly, and sterilization processes, utilizing Lean methodology for process improvement. Provides hands-on leadership support and direction to Instrument Room staff. Maintains a direct working relationship with Central Processing, OR Materials and Purchasing. Maintains a collaborative, service-oriented relationship with OR staff and surgeons.
Responsible for all activities related to instrument processing (decontamination, assembly, and sterilization.) Provides leadership to Instrument Room Staff. This includes coordination of education activities, staffing/scheduling, and personnel management. Maintenance of good working relationships with surgeons, staff and other departments is key. The Instrument Room Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Instrument Room Techs. He/she will hire, evaluate, and discipline this staff in collaboration with the SPD Manager and other resources, as necessary.
Work Schedule:
- 1.0 FTE
- Overnight shift supervisor
- Rotating leader on call
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in central sterile supply and reprocessing.
- Two years’ instrument room or operating room experience required.
- The candidate will present current certification from either CBSPD: C.S.P.D.T. or HSPA (formerly known as IAHCSMM): C.R.C.S.T. or must attain one of these certifications within 12 months of hire.
- The 12-month deadline will be the set on the same numbered day of the month as the hire date. For hire dates falling on the 31st, the deadline defaults to the last day of the 12th month.
- This certification must be maintained for the duration of employment.
- Park Nicollet team members who have been employed for 10 consecutive years prior to 2015 with no lapse in employment as Instrument Room Aide/Sterile Processing Department Technician (9AT) and/or Lead Sterile Processing Technician (116-030) will not be required to obtain certification
- Word Processing knowledge, typing, data entry, strong communication skills – verbal and written.
- Requires familiarity and compliance with internal policies on employment relationship; FMLA, ADA, Discrimination, Harassment laws.
- Requires knowledge of Infection Control principles, AORN and AAMI standards.

- Leadership experience highly preferred
