Supervisory Responsibilities: Guide and direct work of Supply Chain including Planning, Purchasing and Inventory Control.
Essential Duties: Listed in priority order with most important duties listed first
- Oversee a team of employees split between Purchasing, Planning, Shipping, and Inventory Control
- Effectively manage raw material procurement to ensure best value for the company
- Implement procurement strategies which help to ensure a secure supply of raw materials from multiple suppliers
- Analyze orderbook to limit arrears and ensure on time delivery of customer orders
- Develop monthly revenue projections as part of a sustainable S&OP process
- Develop and maintain supply chain systems, processes and procedures to enhance the business infrastructure
- Track and report on key performance indicators to assess the efficiency of the purchasing, inventory control, and planning departments.
- Research raw material markets so as to better understand drivers that effect supply and price
- Ensure that the Procurement Team works closely with Product Groups, Technical Resources, and Plant Operations to better understand their needs and to effectively provide procurement solutions for their projects
- Establish close relationships with key suppliers
- Pursue and investigate alternative Materials and Suppliers in liaison with Technical, Product Groups and Operations
- Establish contracts with suppliers that are value-added to the company in terms of security of supply and price
- Management of supplier performance with respect to quality, delivery and cost
- Analyze and evaluate bids and proposals
- Manages Inventory Control to ensure the most effective utilization of resources and accuracy of inventory
- Report Cost Savings as well as issues that may have a positive or negative effect on the company
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong Leadership and Management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong written and communication skills with ability to interface effectively with management, peers, product groups and suppliers
- Knowledge and experience with ERP systems
- Strong knowledge of legal and commercial aspects of Purchasing
- Able to work independently with little supervision
- Good computer skills with knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Self-motivated
- Ability to travel domestic and international
Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or equivalent related experience
- 10 years Purchasing or Supply Chain experience
- Experience leading/managing a cross-functional team
