Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, particularly in sushi preparation, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and quality. As a Sushi Chef, you will play a crucial role in creating delicious and visually appealing sushi dishes that delight our customers.
Duties
- Prepare a variety of sushi rolls, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes according to traditional recipes and presentation standards.
- Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety regulations and restaurant policies.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to plan menus that reflect seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area.
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and communicate needs to management for timely replenishment.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and food safety practices.
- Stay updated on industry trends in sushi preparation and presentation to continually enhance menu offerings.
Experience
- Previous experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food industry is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food safety practices, kitchen operations, and menu planning.
- Familiarity with various cooking techniques, especially related to Japanese cuisine.
- Experience working in a fast-paced restaurant environment with the ability to multitask effectively.
- A culinary degree or certification from an accredited institution is a plus but not required.
